Earth Revolution (by Ta’Kaiya Blaney and Aileen De La Cruz)

Verse 1:

Out from a distance

Still got a million miles to go

Making a difference

The only  trophy I want to hold

State of the nations

Poisoned by pollution , greed and war

We know we got solutions

But actions speak louder than words

Pre chorus

Oh oh stop waiting til tomorrow

Stop living yesterday

Cause there won’t be a tomorrow

If we don’t change today

Chorus

Generation Now, Children of the future, Earth’s  Revolution

Creation’s crying out, I can feel her pain, can’t walk away

I’ll do my part to fix what’s broken, give back what we’ve taken, hope for the dawn of a new day

Calling each and every person, join me in Earth Revolution

Verse 2

Let’s go the distance

We are a million voices strong

Facing resistance

But there’s a choice between right and wrong

Pre Chorus

Oh oh stop waiting til tomorrow

Stop living yesterday

Cause there won’t be a tomorrow

If we don’t change today

Chorus

Generation Now, Children of the future,  Earth’s Revolution

Creation’s crying out, I can feel her pain, can’t walk away

I’ll do my part to fix what’s broken, give back what we’ve taken, hope for the dawn of a new day

Calling each and every person, join me in Earth Revolution

Bridge

I’ve walked this great land, it used to be beautiful, it used to be home

I’ve seen the rivers run dry, and communities have no home

Where are the birds and the trees

They’ve replaced them with their concrete dreams

We can turn this around. We can fix this right now.

Shallow Waters: Ta’Kaiya Blaney and Aileen De La Cruz

Verse 1

In shallow waters, I can’t see

Your clear waves lapping at my feet

The lifeless ocean, black not blue

I didn’t help but deep down I knew

Verse 2

In shallow waters I used to see

Dolphins playing in front of me

Seaweed swaying, keeping time

Tidal rhythms laugh not cry

Pre Chorus

Oh/oh Why do tears fall from the sky?

On/oh Have we given up, please tell me why?

Chorus

Remember the salty ocean breeze,

We used to build castles on the beach,

Splashing around in the summer heat

Now it’s just oil up to our knees

Bring back the days we used to care

When all of these troubles were not there

A cry for  help this is our song

If we do nothing it’ll all be gone

Verse 3

Om shallow waters I can’t see

The wondrous life God created to be

But tankers and pipelines keep coming through

I turned my head and so did you

Bridge

Come with me to the emerald sea

Where black gold spills into my ocean dreams

Nothing to be found

No life is around

It’s just the sound of mourning in the air

Silence everywhere

Prechorus, chorus.

Carried Away

Ta’Kaiya Blaney and Aileen De La Cruz

(Chorus)

Once upon a dream the whales splashed

The eagles flew, the frogs hopped

Then everything changed.

I wish those days were back with me

Oh how I miss them badly,

My memories are carried on the eagle’s wings

Remembering yesterday.

(Verse 1)

In my dream, I rode a whale,

We shared stories of the past.

Guh no mutch, “Qwa nooch” tums gi jeh [I dreamed of the land]

Guh no mutch, “ee qwa Ajom” tums gi jeh [I dreamed the land changed]

(Chorus)

Once upon a dream the whales splashed

The eagles flew, the frogs hopped

Then everything changed.

I wish those days were back with me

Oh how I miss them badly,

My memories are carried on the eagle’s wings

Remembering yesterday

(Verse 2)

In my dream, I saw a frog,

We hopped through the cleansing rain

Guh no mutch, “Qwa nooch” tums gi jeh[I dreamed of the land]

Guh no mutch, “ee qwa Ajom” tums gi jeh[I dreamed the land changed]

(Chorus)

Once upon a dream the whales splashed

The eagles flew, the frogs hopped

Then everything changed.

I wish those days were back with me

Oh how I miss them badly,

My memories are carried on the eagle’s wings

Remembering yesterday

(Breakaway)

Then I thought how

Then I asked how

How can I change the world right now?

(Chorus)

Once upon a dream the whales splashed

The eagles flew, the frogs hopped

Then everything changed.

I wish those days were back with me

Oh how I miss them badly,

My memories are carried on the eagle’s wings

Remembering yesterday

Wonderful, Beautiful

Ta’Kaiya Blaney and Aileen De La Cruz

Verse 1

My life is too short to wait one more day

Dreams  don’t  come through if you don’t pave the way

Just like a river that flows to the sea

You can get through anything that may be in between

Verse 2

Just like a mountain, a rock you must climb

Sometimes in life you must struggle to find

Choosing a path you will find your own way

No matter what, there’s still hope at the end of the day

Chorus:

Wonderful, Beautiful, that’s what you are

You can do anything, follow your heart

Just like a bird you can fly through the wind

Soaring thru storms  you can feel  all God’s strength in your wings

Bridge

Even when times get too tough

Just believe in in His love

No matter how you may fall

You will stand up and stand tall

Chorus:

Wonderful, Beautiful, that’s what you are

You can do anything, follow your heart

Just like a bird you can fly through the wind

Soaring thru storms  you can feel  all God’s strength in your wings

Watching Over Me

Ta’Kaiya Blaney, Aileen De La Cruz

(Verse 1)

There are days when I feel like giving up

And there’s no one left I can trust.

Be my refuge and shelter me from the storms

Calm my mind, with your peace and your grace

(Chorus)

And forever Your Love will live in my heart

There’s nothing I fear when you are around.

I know you are near, with the angels watching over me

Keeping me safe, safe in your arms.

(Verse 2)

There are days when I feel like a beautiful butterfly

Dancing on air with the breeze.

All the wonderful things that He has created

Has opened my eyes to His Glory

(ChorusJ

And forever Your Love will live in my heart

There’s nothing I fear when you are around.

I know you are near, with the angels watching over me

Keeping me safe, safe in your arms.

(Bridge)

I just can’t do this alone

I need Your strength top carry on

Everyday of my life I will live just for you.

(Chorus):

And forever Your Love will live in my heart

There’s nothing I fear when you are around.

I know you are near, with the angels watching over me

Keeping me safe, safe in your arms.

Keeping me safe, safe in your arms…..

One Lone Cedar Tree

A breeze of sorrow and disgrace

A silent morning hush

One lone cedar tree awakes

Life is silent in the bush

The streams are left empty

The salmon won’t ever return

Once blue, lazy waves from the sea

Now only an oily black churn

Chinuth chuiy qwa eho

I am a child of many generations to come

We had to quit our old ways in oder to live

A  barren place this coast has become

It’s ourselves we can never forgive

Before it’s too late, I need you to listen

Stop the pipeline before it spills

And covers the forest with an oily glisten

Our greed is the oil that blackens and kills

What is there .

What if there were no more fish?

Fish are one of the important things on our planet.

But if you take something away it can really cause a difference.

Lots of other animals that eat fish are going to go hungry;

like bears, seals, sea lions, elephant seals, whales, and killer whales.

Bears now starve and die in hibernation. Seals now have to come

to shore to catch fish.

Tishosem, “place of the Spawning Herring.” was the home of my people.

My dad remembers well that he used to catch sockeye, sping salmon,

rock cod and red snapper just by handline.

Many people liked to fish too much.  Big boats, as big as a ferry, and

fished all day and all night and fished all of them out.  Other people

wanted to build a mill.  Their big dam blocked the fish from laying their eggs.

Now, a big truck comes to Tishosem and gives everyone fish.

But it didn’t come this year because there were no more fish to give.

What would happen if there were no more fish?

If I were an Eagle (age 6)

If I were an eagle

I would soar above the clouds

I would see the stars above me

I wish I could be like them

If I were an eagle

I would swoop down the river

and try to catch some fish

But…they would be all gone

I would keep searching

I might starve and die

If I were an eagle

I would look to see my home

The scattered logs would be laying down

as if they had been sleeping

for thousands of years

a cruel wind would blow over

the gentle earth

If I were an eagle

People would look up

They would wish to be with me,

where the air is clear…If I were an eagle.
