I am putting together the writings, artwork, poems, photographs and videos from First nations children to take with me wherever I speak. Â We are children and youth raising our voices to save our lands and culture. Please include in a short paragraph:
1) Who you are
2) What nation you are from, where that nation is located, your culture and traditional language.
3) What are some of the environmental threats to your community? How has the land changed since the generation of your grandparents?

Letters from the Heiltsuk Nation, students in Grades 5-6.
I am from the Heiltsuk Nation located in the Great Bear Rainforest on the Central Coast of B.C. One major threat to my community is killing all of our fish, whales, seals and other animals. If oil tankers come through our waters they will damage our whales, fish, seals, and kill our life. Our community will never give permission for the oil tankers to come through because they might have an oil spill. Their boat will probably ruin our fishies lives and kill them, we won’t probably get to swim again if they ever have an oil spill, and if their boat will crash.

I am from the Heiltsuk Nation located in the Great Bear Rainforest on the Central Coast of B.C. If oil tankers come through our waters the whales cannot communicate with other whales. Our community will never give permission for the oil tankers to pass through our home. If oil tankers pass through, they should pay all of our territory 10, 000 dollars, every one counts!
